Abstract

Abstract. This scientific article aims to explore the profound impact of William
Shakespeare's works on Asian literature, theater, and culture. Despite originating from
a different time and place, Shakespeare's plays have transcended geographical
boundaries and found resonance among diverse Asian societies. Through an
interdisciplinary approach, this study delves into the reasons behind Shakespeare's
enduring popularity in Asia, the adaptations and translations of his works, and the
influence he has had on Asian playwrights and performers. By examining specific case
studies from Japan, China, and India, the article sheds light on the cross-cultural
exchange between Shakespearean drama and Asian traditions, ultimately highlighting
the universal themes that continue to make Shakespeare relevant in Asia today.
