Abstract

Charles Dickens’ novels are renowned for their critical examination of Victorian
society, particularly the hardships endured by children and the flaws within the
educational system. Drawing from his own experiences, Dickens used his literary
platform to shed light on the dire conditions of impoverished children and the urgent
need for educational reform. His works, such as “Oliver Twist” and “Nicholas
Nickleby,” not only depict the struggles of youth but also critique the prevailing
societal attitudes towards education. Through his storytelling, Dickens advocated for a
more compassionate approach to education, emphasizing the importance of
imaginative learning and emotional development. His enduring legacy continues to
influence discussions on child welfare and education, underscoring the transformative
power of literature in shaping social awareness and reform.
